Soaked Banana Bread
I couldn’t resist posting this recipe for banana bread as it has to be the best banana bread I have ever had the pleasure of making or eating. Because the flour is soaked ahead of time it is very nutrient dense too which is a plus for banana bread. It does take a little preparation but it’s a great way to use overripe bananas and I think it might freeze well, though it never lasts long...

NYR Lip Gloss Review and Giveaway!
I am a lip gloss fanatic. I love a good lip gloss and yet it is very hard to find a good one, never mind a great one. I was lucky enough to be approached by Michele at NYR and asked to try what I now know is a must have, never be without lip gloss of the century. When she told me NYR was the UK based organic cosmetics groundbreakers Neal’s Yard Remedies now being sold in the US, I jumped...

Importance of Soaking Grains
Quick show of hands…..  How many of you believe that buying whole grain bread is healthier than white bread? How many of you routinely feed store bought barley, oat or wheat cereal to your little ones?  How many of you start your day with a bowl of oatmeal?  If you raised your hands to any of these questions read on.  Before I tell you more, let me assure you, I am not suggesting cutting...

The Ultimate Comfort Food- Matzo Ball Soup
I was having a meal crisis today. I had nothing planned, a whole free range chicken in the refrigerator and absolutely no taste for roast chicken. What was a girl to do? Only one thing to do in these situations. When life hands you chicken, make matzo ball soup. This is so easy to make and really wholesome and delicious I challenge you not to love it. I even managed to make this much healthier by...

Make Natural Bio-Live Yoghurt the Easy Way
Bio live or active yoghurt is such a health conscious immune boosting food for your body these days. A trip to the supermarket, however, will offer few healthy choices as many are sugar laden, or even worse, laced with poisonous artificial sweetener, a little jam, and a lot of artificial sweeteners. Plain Greek yoghurt is sometimes on offer but my experience has taught me this is often tasteless....

Does Global Warming Cause Earthquakes?
In the wake of the massive earthquake and subsequent tsunamis in Japan a few days ago, I got to thinking and researching whether global warming had anything to do with the event and if so, could large scale “green living” prevent future events. I have to tell you, I don’t have an answer but I wanted to start a discussion and see what you all think. On one hand, it is very true...

Yellow Split Pea, Kale, and Italian Sausage Soup
This recipe comes from one of my favorite websites, The Nourishing Gourmet as she blogs about recipes with real healthy ingredients, and in many cases very budget friendly. I believe in using whole, fresh ingredients and rarely buy packaged foods. I even make my own Italian sausage using turkey or chicken, making this very budget friendly as well as wholesome. Yellow Split Pea, Kale and Italian...

6 Reasons to Say NO to Silicone
I wonder where your minds went when you read the title. You bunch of minxes. I am actually talking about silicones in hair products. This is the stuff that makes your hair slippery when you rinse it and gives it the appearance of being shiny and soft. That’s in the short term. Let me clarify, (no pun intended) that these are not necessarily bad for the environment. As a matter of fact, some...

Superfood Recipe: Sweet Potato Spinach Salad
I really like healthy recipes that use more than one superfood in the recipe. Organic sweet potatoes are always in my home as they satisfy my sweet tooth and need for fiber at night, but they are also snacks and sides for many of our dishes. They are easily prepared in many different ways so there is relatively little boredom factor. Spinach used to be one of my least favorite foods and I still...
